Over 2015
Over is a short film created in 2015 based on true events which consists of a reverse narrative that begins with a crime scene in a suburban town. the reverse narrative is assisted by time stamps on the bottom of the screen which allows the audience to better understand what is going on.
cinematography - due to the reduced dialogue cinematography is especially important in telling the story. The main shots we see in this short film are long static shots which gives the short a calming sense even though it revolves around a tragic accident. The same angle of the shot is rarely used twice with each shot giving us a different perspective of the location. The shots of the crime scene are paired with shots of nature which further gives a sense of calmness.
mise en scene - the mise en scene in this short is simplistic but very effective, consisting of shots of the mans possessions which includes a photo of his family and we also see someone lay down a bouquet of flowers which makes the audience feel empathetic towards him. The flowers bring a touch of colour to the scene which further brings emphasis towards them and the sadness of what happened.
