Operator

 This short film follows an operator of a emergency call centre and her experience darting between calls. We see the operator answer a call about a woman who has discovered a fire in her home with her son trapped upstairs. Laura the operator guides the mother through what to do and how to ensure her sons safety. The film ends with the mother and her son safe but without Laura having a moment to breath before having to answer another call. This is a very powerful choice in the film as it shows the relentless job that is being an emergency operator and while both Gemma and the audience are allowed the time to exhale after that stressful encounter Laura is not granted such a privilege and must remain calm for the next call she must take.

The lighting in this short film is simple but effective. For example, it consists of three computer screens being used to light up Laura's face creating a sense of realism as well as focusing us on Laura who is our protagonist.
